Get ready to dive into the world of homes that break all the rules! We’re talking modern marvels that blur the lines between architecture and art, where sustainability meets jaw-dropping design.
These houses are nothing like you’d expect. They’re underground, literally. But, there’s nothing underground in terms of style inside them.
All four architectural marvels are masterpieces you’ll wish you could visit in your lifetime.
1. Edgeland House By Bercy Chen Studio
Don’t let the low profile fool you. This house might be underground, but it’s a normal-sized house down under.
The Edgeland House looks like Mother Nature and modern architecture decided to collab on the most epic green roof runway ever. It was built keeping in mind all the necessary sustainability principles. And, luckily, they managed to keep the modern design.
What you’re trying to say with this house is: “I care about the environment, but I still want my Instagram to pop.”
Come Peek Inside The Edgeland
It’s popping on the inside too!
The sharp, glass walls of the Edgeland House hide a gorgeous, contemporary style with an open-concept living room. As I can see, everything’s beige, light-colored, and most certainly luxurious.
Still, it’s not the inside that makes me so crazy about Edgeland. It’s the pool area with the most unusual pool I’ve ever seen. It’s shaped like a triangle and completely suits this weird, but awesome weird house.
2. Malator Aka The Teletubby House
My youngest saw this house and she asked if they were doing a new version of Teletubbies, her favorite childhood TV show.
Yeah, the Malator does look like a modern version of the popular house. Instead of the round entrance, this Teletubby house has front wall completely in glass, complimented with round circles as vents.
The grass-topped gem practically disappears into the hillside, blending so seamlessly with its surroundings that you might walk past it without noticing—until you spot the futuristic glass façade peeking out.
Are There Teletubbies Inside?
Nah, no Teletubbies inside, but there are still awesome things to see.
The entire place is done in curves and vibrant colors. The bright yellow really changes the atmosphere in the room, making everything seem so bright and happy.
Although I love the yellow accent, this right here is my favorite part: the fireplace in the center of the room.
Just picture yourself sitting by the crackling fire, the night is rolling over the hill, and you feel peaceful, without a worry in the world. Sounds incredible, feels even better, doesn’t it?
3. AsanjA Bubble House
Did we, suddenly, teleport into a Sci-Fi movie, because that’s what it looks like.
This is AsanjA, a house that’s bubbling with personality. Literally.
With its circular entrances tucked into the earth and grass-covered roof punctuated by quirky skylights, this house feels like a playful blend of hobbit charm and futuristic eco-design. It’s not just a home; it’s an adventure.
The Interior Is Bubbling With Uniqueness
I definitely didn’t expect normal walls inside the Asanja. Everything’s round, curved, and bubbly – just like the house’s name!
This unusual setup is actually a living room packed with colorful throw pillows, unique sculptures, and a sofa that belongs on Star Trek: Voyager.
Although everything’s so futuristic, this still feels like home where you can make yourself cozy and enjoy the end of the night.
Bright, airy, and lovely- that’s how I’d describe AsanjA’s interior. Oh, and blue like the cleanest ocean. Love that blue choice so much!
4. Casa Bajo Tierra La Calera
If you have ever wondered what it looks like when nature takes over, this is it. The Casa Bajo Tierra literally stands for the house underground. It’s tucked so snugly into the hillside it looks like the Earth just casually decided to grow a cozy vacation spot.
Surrounded by rolling green hills and towering trees, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to ditch Wi-Fi, grab a good book, and pretend you’re starring in your own Tolkien-inspired adventure. Plus, that little patio is basically begging for morning coffee with a side of epic daydreams
Come Under Ground
Believe it or not, this is what Casa Bajo looks inside. I was expecting a modern design, something futuristic, to be honest, but not this old charm.
The tiny does of hobbit house vibes peek through in terms of interior design. The place looks like Frodo went crazy and decorated it just for himself. Of course, I love it.
And what I love even more is the huge fireplace, the center of all happenings and the biggest coziness factor in this house.
