Could you ever picture yourself downsizing from a relatively spacious home to a tiny house of only 400ish square feet?
Carmen and Bill did!
The sweet couple from Florida decided they wanted to live tiny more than anything. And honestly, at this point, they might be onto something — because who needs extra space when you can fit everything you need into a space so cute, even the walls seem to be hugging you?
Welcome to tiny living, where every inch counts… and no one ever gets lost in the house.
Let The Downsizing Begin
Downsizing from 5,000 to 400 square feet isn’t impossible, and Carmen and Bill are a great proof. They went from a big house to a tiny place in no time, without even regretting it.
Their desire to focus on what’s really important, not just the material, was stronger. They didn’t want to work overtime just to keep their home functional and clean. A tiny home was in order, and that’s where it all started.
Fast forward a while from their life in Florida, the couple got this: a perfect blend of modern elegance and rustic charm, with its clean lines and natural materials creating a balanced, welcoming space.
A Tiny House With A Mud Room
One of the biggest issues with tiny homes is that you don’t have a hallway into the house. You go straight into the living space, and that can be messy from time to time, especially when the rainy season starts.
When Carmen was deciding on her tiny home, she knew she had to have a mud room by the entrance.
And, let me tell you something: it’s a life changer!
From the mud room, you can go straight up to the loft, or into the living room and kitchen area. Sure, you won’t get the full open-concept experience, but you’ll get practical use, which is much better.
At least your floors will stay clean now.
One Of The Two
Believe it or not, in only 400 sq ft, there are two bathrooms!
The first one is right here and offers you complete comfort and everything you could ever need.
The sole idea of having two bathrooms in such a place without compromising the rest of the house space is brilliant! But, that’s not all that’s brilliant. If you stay tuned, you’ll see some more areas that were a complete surprise to me.
Spoiler alert: I almost checked under the couch for a hidden jacuzzi! Stay with me, the magic doesn’t stop here.
There’s Even A Man Cave
Okay, a man’s loft, not really a cave, but it’s there.
Up those stairs you saw in the mud room, you can access Bill’s private chambers, a sacred place where football is the only thing on the TV and no girls are allowed. This comfy floor bed simply calls you to throw yourself on it, turn on the game, and drift into some other world.
It’s a no-frills zone, where snacks are plentiful and the only drama is on the screen.
The Real Masterpiece
I don’t know whether I love the arched details on the ceiling, the style of the cabinets, the fact there are lots of plants inside, or the countertop.
Okay, the countertop is clearly a winner. Would you look at that showstopper, please? It’s beyond incredible.
The blue line presents the Jordan River going into the Dead Sea. There are even 12 stones that stand for those 12 stones that were on the path to the promised land.
Love the symbolic meaning!
This only proves the kitchen isn’t just a place where food is being made. It’s the heart of a home.
Carmen And Her Baskets
It’s not an obsession, but Carmen really loves storing things in baskets. I totally get her. I do the same thing in my house because it makes everything look more tidy. All those unwanted trinkets we don’t know where to put can safely go into pretty baskets for good.
Carmen’s living room area features a lovely, cozy couch with a bunch of pillows and those gorgeous boho-like baskets under the couch.
Honestly, at this point, I’m starting to think those baskets might be hiding a secret stash of things we didn’t even know we needed—like extra socks, random keys, and probably a couple of missing remotes. You never know what treasure is lurking in there!
Hold On… There’s A Basement?
Hold your horses. I know what you’re gonna ask me: How come a tiny house has a basement
Technically, it’s a reverse loft imitating a basement. Since it’s a bit lower than the rest of the rooms, and there are exposed pipes and a water heater, Carmen and Bill decided to call it a basement. They threw in some fitness gear and made themselves a nice little home gym.
So, there you have it — a basement that’s not quite a basement, but just enough to make you feel like you can do squats while pretending you’re lifting the weight of a real one. Who needs a full basement when you’ve got enough room to work out and still not trip over your own dumbbells?
The Office With The Prettiest View Ever
As Carmen says, the little office space at the top of the stairs from the living room has the prettiest view she’d ever seen.
There’s just enough space for a desk, a computer, and a comfy chair to keep up with your deadlines.
I love how they placed the printer on a shelf above the desk. It really saves a lot of space. I can’t stand that my printer takes most of my desk and always collects dust.
Another Bathroom You’re Gonna Love
It really amazes me that Carmen and Bill managed to make their home with two bathrooms. I mean, it’s a really small house where every inch counts.
Still, bathrooms were their priorities and that’s absolutely okay.
The upstairs bathroom has lovely yellow details that make the room a fashionable statement, not just a washroom.
The Love Nest
The cherry on the top of the ice cream is the king-sized bed that was able to fit on the loft.
The bright yellow details on the bed make this such a happy place to wake up in. The mix of rustic wood and soft cushions creates a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for curling up with a blanket and letting the world drift by.
The large windows bring in natural light, adding a serene touch while giving a glimpse of the outdoors.
It’s the love nest, the place where you cuddle with your partner at the end of the day and feel how your love doubles in size.
