I never knew we could put small sweet, and rustic in the same sentence, but here we are. This Jasper, Alberta cabin is exactly that, and I can’t find any other words for it.
The classical log design with perfectly tinted wood and a wrap-around porch is a picture-perfect cabin that reminds me of fairytales, and that story about Heidi. All that’s missing are goats and the cabin being high up in the mountains.
The rustic feel is increased with the stone chimney that signals us (pun intended) there’s a nice fireplace inside, perfect for long winter nights.
The Classic Setup, What Else?
Give me wood, and give me lots of it! I love when cabins are top to bottom covered in wood logs, planks, and raw material. That increases the cabin experience by 10!
Of course the kitchen in this small cabin had to have traditional wooden cabinets and the granite countertops like most American kitchens. Do I mind that it’s not innovative or trendy? Absolutely not. We’re here for the OG cabin life, not just for Instagram.
Although, if you ask me, the entire place is pretty Instagram.feed worthy, especially when you light up the fireplace.
The Star Of The Cabin
Of course, the fireplace with the chimney is the true superstar of the cabin!
Would you just look at it? It’s a masterpiece designed with stone, looking like it was carved into a large rock. The pristine, raw beauty is delivered straight to your cabin living room. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to sit here by the fire.
The fireplace puts shadows on everything in this room. I wouldn’t care if it was empty, without any sofas or chairs. All I would do is sit on the floor and stare in the reddish-orange dance of the tongues of fire.
The Best Sleep In Years
I don’t know about you, but I feel this bedroom speaks to me, and it’s saying: Come spend the night and you’ll have the best sleep in years.
Sleep? I’m sold!
The excitement of spending the night in a comfy bed with the sound of fire slowly fading as the night goes on is too big to explain. I’ve never spent the night near the fire and I bet it’s amazing.
Why doesn’t every cabin come with a bedroom fireplace too? I’d book a month-long stay if I could just to sleep soundly by the fireplace.
Stone Imitation As The Ideal Choice
Stone bathrooms are not quite easy to design. But, stone imitation? No problemo!
Personally, I love wood even in bathrooms, and especially in cabins, but this time, I can make an exception. Why? Because these tiles imitating river stones are incredible and I wouldn’t trade them for anything else since they blended in with the interior so nicely.
A great thing about this bathroom is that it features a walk-in shower, quite a large one. You get in after the hike, and get out fast, so you can have more time to spend outside on adventures. A soak-in tub would just steal time from exploring wonderful Alberta nature.
