Turn Your Next Layover Into A Sleepover In A Renovated 737

Turn Your Next Layover Into A Sleepover In A Renovated 737

Sharing is caring!

How would you like to spend the night in a plane?

No, I don’t mean going on a tiring, 12-hour-long flight. We’re not going anywhere. The plane is grounded, it’s not clear for take off, but it is clear for something else:

Spending the night inside its cozy, Airbnb-inspired hideout.

Enter Steven Northam, the visionary who bought the fuselage of a retired 737 and turned it into a unique, immersive experience. Ready to learn how he made his dream a reality—and how you can sleep under the wings of aviation history?

Keeping It As Original As Possible

It’s not the first time I see a transformed unit that once used to be a plane, a truck, or something similar. But, it is the first time I see a project that was so neatly done to preserve the original setup as much as possible.

Steven’s plane Airbnb is indeed a transformed house, but everywhere you look you’ll see plane-related details that will make you think a flight attendant would come down the hall and ask you to buckle up.

The Final Layover

Gone are the cramped seats and tray-table snacks; Steven Northam has completely transformed this retired aircraft into a luxurious escape.

He replaced the standard cabin with plush beds, each adorned with aviation-themed pillows, and crafted a sleek workspace with in-flight entertainment (Wi-Fi included, of course).

Still, the best part isn’t the entire plane itself. It’s the details that make this home even more incredible. My favorite? The glass floor allows you to peek under the hood if you want to. I mean, who else has a chance to check out a plane head to toe?

The emergency exit door now opens to peaceful surroundings instead of turbulence, while the overhead bins are ready to stow your belongings—or your secrets.

Fasten your seatbelt—this is your forever layover.

Kitchen Flight Attendants Are Used To

Flight attendants might be used to such tiny kitchens, but you probably aren’t. Don’t worry, fixing up a quick meal, maybe a cup of ramen noodles is very much possible in such tiny place.

With a little creativity, you can whip up something satisfying while enjoying the unique surroundings. After all, what else do you need when you’re on vacation from everything—except perhaps a relaxing cup of coffee to complete the experience?

What’s In Cargo?

Your bags aren’t in cargo. That’s one of the biggest scares when flying, isn’t it?

Fear not, because your bags are up in the overhead compartments, and you’re spending the night in cargo. I bet this is the coziest cargo space you’ve ever seen, isn’t it?

Once a storage space for luggage and freight, this nook is now a haven of comfort. The exposed, industrial walls give it an edgy vibe, while a plush bed, adorned with bright, cheerful blankets and pillows, brings warmth and personality.

Flanked by two inviting bean bag chairs, it’s the perfect place to kick back, relax, and let your mind wander to new adventures.

The Adventure Continues Outside

This hot tub had a previous life as a jet engine hood. Isn’t it super cool how Steven managed to find a good use of the old hood. I mean, who doesn’t love a good hot tub? We all do!

It’s like the perfect mix of luxury and aviation—relaxing at 0 feet above sea level, but still feeling like you’re on top of the world.
