Why does this cabin give me Griswold family vibes so much?
When I was a kid, my family used to love watching movies about the Griswolds. It’s one of my favorite franchises up to today. The moment I saw this charming wooden cabin, I immediately thought of Clark, Ellen, Audrey, and Rusty.
I could totally see a family packing into their minivan, having all sorts of adventures, and arriving in this log cabin. But, one thing is different here: even if Griswolds visit, they wouldn’t have things upside down. They would finally have a nice, relaxing vacation.
And so would you!
Trapped In The 80s, But That’s Okay
To get to this sweet little cabin, you’ll have to go to Washington, precisely, to Glacier, a place near Mount Baker summit. You’ll be welcomed by a rustic exterior, a typical cabin with a porch, peeking through the pine trees surrounding it.
There’s nothing fancy about the house itself, or the area. If you want luxury, you’ll need to go to a prestige winter retreat or rent a mansion. Here, the good ol’ family vacation, where the only thing that’s important is your loved ones, is guaranteed.
When you step inside, you’ll be greeted by warmth, coziness, and a dash of old times. I know, the cabin looks a bit outdated to an average Gen Z. However, the entire interior fits perfectly into the cozy vibes of the cabin.
And, if you ask me, it’s not outdated; it’s classic! And classic never goes out of style.
In 500 sq. feet, you’ll have a living room and dining room, a separate kitchen, a master bedroom, along with an open loft with two bunk beds, and a guest bedroom with a queen bed.
That’s still plenty of space for more guests, despite the size of the place.
I’m gonna share a little secret with you: I’m kinda getting overwhelmed with the amount of contemporary homes with open space concepts. I miss the coziness, the feeling like you belong there when you enter a house. A lot of modern homes have lost that touch, and I need it back.
That’s why these 500 sq. feet would mean a piece of heaven to me.
I absolutely adore the stone accents, the center of the room around the fireplace. It makes me feel the warmth even through the screen. And the log walls inside only help with the feeling! Just imagine snoozing in the armchair, wood snapping in the fireplace, and you’re feeling warm inside.
Yeah, that’s the feeling we all want.
Another feature that has worked its magic on me is the dining room table. Better yet, the round table for the knights of the log cabin! Nothing speaks of being close better than such a table. You sit right next to each other, elbow to elbow, sharing delicious meals, passing on the potatoes, and enjoying the conversation.
Those were family nights in my house. Those are the nights I want for my kids one day.
Feeling The Smell Of Wood Through The Screen
Okay, okay… Griswolds AND Grizzly Adams vibes!
As I spend more time looking at this house, I feel like Grizzly Adams today would barge in and make himself comfortable.
The whole house was designed and decorated to fit the surroundings. I can’t even describe to you how much I can’t stand to see modern, especially white furniture, in a log cabin! Let’s decorate the house according to the place where it is. Don’t mix styles. That’s not pretty at all.
See how even the cover on the master bed has tiny pictures of bears, deer, acorns, leaves, and other woodland-themes thingies? That’s adorable!
What I appreciate the most is the endless usage of wood elements on the walls, on the floor, and as furniture. I bet it smells divine in there like pine logs and freshly cut timber!
And I know where it smells even better too! If you step outside on the porch, you’ll feel smitten by all the different forest scents, and the combination of different trees and plants.
So, crack open a cold one, sit back on the porch, and enjoy the serenity that comes with this ol’ cabin in the woods of Glacier, Washington!
