As soon as the summer starts to fade, I mentally start preparing for the winter and my favorite holiday, Christmas. I skip Halloween and fall festivities and go straight into a snowy mood.
For the last couple of years, my family has been spending Christmas holidays far from home in cabin rentals. Of course, I’ve already started checking out what’s on the market and where to head off this year, and then I saw it… The ideal log cabin for my big family and our holiday tradition.
And it’s a dream that would never come true since it’s the world’s most expensive log cabin.
I had to take a peak. I had to daydream about spending Christmas here. And, guess what?
It’s magical!
Come Closer, Visitor
Of course, the driveway of this $26,000,000 log mansion is heated so you don’t have to shovel it ever. Did you really expect it to be any other way? This 14,000-square-foot retreat has its own movie theatre and a wine cellar, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
The entrance is grandiose, with a covered deck, a seating area, and incredible Douglas fir columns. Standing before this house will make you feel quite small. But, once you step inside, you’ll see what’s really monumental.
Fit For A King… Or Queen
The inside of the house has a warm and cozy atmosphere, just like any Aspen cabin should have. The first impression is stealing breaths away since the hallway was made to impress with its pine wood floors, granite everywhere, and double-height ceilings.
Stepping on the left, you’ll find yourself in a formal living room, fit for a king.
Exposed Wooden Beams FTW
What makes me such a huge fan of this house is the combination of exposed Douglas fir columns and beams that actually support the house and the contemporary pieces such as the sofa and the coffee table.
The formal living room is not as cold and formal as you might think. It’s heartwarming and welcoming, all thanks to…
The Grandiose Masterpiece
The massive central fireplace looks like it’s been carved in stone, and it’s dominating the room spreading warmth and good vibes.
Now, I know some of you are used to seeing a complete tour from me, even I am, but not this time—this time I want to highlight only the most impressive parts of this mansion. And there will be lots of them!
The Polished Geode Countertop
For starters, this polished geode vanity countertop is in the downstairs bathroom.
I can almost hear the guests coming from the bathroom, asking: Where did you get that countertop? I must have one!
Just down the hall is another hotspot in the house, the kitchen- so perfect it fits a professional chef!
First Time I See Olive Green Kitchen Cabinets
Even though the kitchen does have a traditional touch, I can still feel the influence of modernism with uniquely colored cabinets. Can you believe that I almost never see olive green kitchen cabinets, and I’m an interior designer?
Private Entertainment Centre
As I mentioned before, the mansion is… well, huge. And, having a house this big requires extra special rooms inside, such as the entertainment center. I mean, you gotta do something inside when the blizzard is stopping you from hitting the slopes, right?
The entertainment center is a typical male cave, but I promise you, girls can have fun in here too! My way of fun is admiring those divine, rustic beams supporting the metal roof paneling and the wonderful contrast between the stone fireplace and the pine wood around it.
And that’s still not it!
What’s On Tonight?
Home theatre, remember? A house that’s worth this much has to have a home theatre…
… and it’s magnificent!
Don’t Forget The…
Oh, and the wine cellar too!
I bet it feels amazing having a cellar stocked with your favorite wine so you can just grab a bottle whenever you feel like it. I promise I don’t drink that much, thee-hee.
The River Stone Fireplace
Moving through this house isn’t that fast since it’s a massive building with wide and long hallways, spacious rooms, and tall ceilings. But, I’ll skip a couple of steps and lead you into the guest wing.
The first guest bedroom has a beautiful stone river fireplace.
I mean, would you look at it, please? I know time spent in Aspen promises lots of fun, but if I was staying here, I’d be too excited to get on my PJs, light the fire, and snuggle in the bed listening to it crackle.
Oh, Those Green Tiles
As with most mansions, every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and this one is to die for!
I know, right? That green-tiled walk-in shower makes you want to shower until you use up all the hot water!
This may not be the most modern spot in the house, but no one is looking for trendy or modern. We’re looking for unique spots that will make you fall in love with the house!
Kids Have Such A Cool Bedroom
The guest wing has four bedrooms, and the smallest one is for kids.
Dare I say the kids have the best view in the house, all through that incredible A-frame window wall?
The Master Bedroom Still Wins The Best View
Okay, I’m a bit biased because I adore window walls, especially if they’re overlooking the Continental Divide. But, the master bedroom suite has a great view too!
t’s a lovely suite with an abundance of natural light coming through window walls. And, guess what? The windows don’t have curtains up here because the whole point was to be woken by the first signs of dawn. Wonderful, isn’t it?
Can I move in, like, right now? I could use a little getaway in such a luxurious place, just to treat myself. All I’m missing are those $26,000,000. Such a bargain, isn’t it?
