The other day, I was flipping through my TV, looking for something to watch.
When I came across the Shrek movie, I remembered how much I loved it when I was a child so I decided to put it on.
As I was watching it, I noticed that Shrek’s home was decorated. I mean, here’s this big, grumpy ogre living in a swamp, and yet, the place had a quirky charm to it. His whole home had this rustic chic to it with an incredible open-plan design.
That is why I decided to try and find a modern home that looks like something right out of that well-loved movie. And best believe I did!
When you first find yourself in front of the home, you will notice that adorable patio area right off the entrance.
Try not to get confused about what to look at – the stunning exterior of the home or that breathtaking garden. My suggestion is to do a little bit of both!
Oh, and the wooden walls of this tiny home really do remind me of Shrek’s tree home!
When you first step inside through that wooden door, you will find yourself in the living room.
Even with its quite minimalistic design, the levels of coziness in this room are through the roof. With its blue couch, that chair in the corner, and a fireplace, what more could you possibly need?
And don’t even get me started on those adorable windows and that empty space above the door. Such simple things but they add tons of character to the space.

Connected to the living room is the kitchen!
An adorable dining table serves as a divider between the two rooms, adding a whole other dimension to the open-concept design.
The kitchen is something that honestly deserves a movie for itself.
I mean, just look at those wooden cabinets and exposed shelves. Not only do you have everything you need to make the most delicious snack but you can also do it in style.
Next to the kitchen area, you will find a ladder that will take you up to the loft!
And let me tell you, it is the coolest part of the home. Featuring a queen-sized mattress that is placed on the wooden floors, this little bedroom will give you the sleep of your lifetime.
Just look at those windows. Not only do they flood the space with natural light but they also give you the best views of nature outside. All you have to do is lay down and enjoy!
Speaking of nature, behind this stunning home, you have a little fire pit with two chairs that will happily host the most romantic evening ever.
All you have to do is grab your loved one, start a little fire, throw your head back, and watch the stars!
So, in the end, I think we can all agree that this tiny home truly captures the magic of Shrek’s cozy, rustic swamp in the best way possible. Because, just like Shrek’s swamp, it proves that comfort and charm can be created in every place.
