Top 10 Minimalist Living Room Ideas For The Minimalist Home Of Your Dreams

Sharing is caring!

Interior designs often change and go in and out of style. What was once trendy in the 2010s, may seem crazy to someone now in the 2020s!

But one of the designs which simply never goes out of style is the minimalist one. It’s always trendy!

A part of what makes it so special is its ability to conform to all the different themes. Believe it or not, there’s so much that you can do with minimalism! That’s why today I’ll be showing you 10 minimalist living room ideas for the minimalist home of your dreams!

1. Bring In The Nature

The main point of minimalist rooms is their simplicity. This means that there’s usually no over the top decor stacked up or a bunch of different sitting areas.

So just imagine how stunning would some floor-to-ceiling windows look in a place like this!

We all know that those types of windows allow an immense amount of natural light inside and we love them for that! But in this case the outdoors’ greenery would serve as the main piece of decor as well!

It would feel as if the beautiful outside nature has entered your place! Doesn’t that sound just lovely?

2. The Classic Black And White

Something you can never go wrong with is the combination of black and white. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about housing, clothes or jewelry, the point still stands!

Considering the black and white theme is a classic when it comes to colors, it’s not a surprise that it would match well the style classic that is minimalism.

What’s fun is that you can choose how to decorate the place any way you want! You can opt for modern minimalism or some traditional one, it’ll all match with these two colors being the main theme!

A word of advice though: add some gray! Gray color will do wonders filling up the spaces between the stark contrast of black and white!

3. Try Out A Symmetrical Look

Something that you might not have expected from a minimalist style considering how simple it seems is that you can actually play around with it so much!

Here we have an example of a symmetrical living room which looks absolutely amazing! Not only are the two couches the exact same, but the artworks on the wall are too!

Of course, you can play around with the same things but it’s not limited to them! You could place a carpet with symmetrical patterns paired with the identical chairs sat opposite each other, for an example!

This would be an amazing design for someone looking for a style that’s minimalist but still very modern and most definitely unique!

4. Or Is Asymmetry More Your Taste

If we can play around with furniture to make a symmetrical look, we can move it around to create an asymmetrical one just the same!

With the minimalist layouts of the rooms being so simple, their shapes and patterns can influence the place quite a lot!

Take a look at this slanted wall in the photo with cracking wall patterns. It makes the area look so interesting, allowing it to reach new heights!

This idea embraces you to experiment with anything you have in your living room. It can be a wall like in this photo, or perhaps sitting areas! It’s all a matter of your choice and taste.

5. You Won’t Go Wrong With The Neutral Beige

Over the last couple of years the beige color, and all of its similar tones and colors, completely skyrocketed. We are seeing an emerging trend of “beige living rooms”, “beige bedrooms”, beige everything!

So I’m sure this idea will resonate with plenty of people!

There’s just something about a minimalist living room with all of its simple decor colored in shades of sepia. It makes the area look very elegant, classy and even slightly luxurious.

A great thing about the neutral colored living room is that you can add some light wood details and they will match perfectly!

The wooden details can range from the small decor to the tiny tables on the side of the couch! Just be careful to look for the light wood such as oak or pine, otherwise you’ll be heading in the rustic minimalist direction, which we will mention in a couple of minutes!

6. Don’t Forget The Colors

Now that we have covered all of the neutral shades of black, white and beige, it’s time to head into some more colorful colors!

Minimalism means simplicity, but no one said you must go for the neutral tones! If you want some color in your home, feel free to paint away!

Just look at this living room in the photo. With the combination of light blue and pink, it looks as sweet as candy! But, that doesn’t take away from its minimalism!

The colorful idea goes out for all shades as well. You can take a light route like in the photo above, or make a dark and moody living area for yourself with the dark blues and purples. The choice is all yours!

7. The Rustic Minimalism

I’m sure that once the word rustic is mentioned, you imagine lovely cabins of some kind. While it’s true that rustic doesn’t go for the minimalist look often, it doesn’t mean that it never goes for the minimalism!

As we have established, the beauty of minimalism is that it can be styled in plenty of different ways and combined with so many different styles. Rustic one is no exception!

Adding wood to your home will add a dose of rusticness but as long as you keep it simple the room will stay minimalist!

So, why not add a wooden table in the middle of the room accompanied by some gorgeous wooden chairs and a wooden cabinet in the corner? Your living room will suddenly seem both minimalist and cozy thanks to all of the wooden touch!

8. Add A Statement Piece

It’s a complete myth that minimalist rooms always give off that empty vibe. That is correct sometimes but certainly not always!

So if you want to stray away from the “empty look” while staying true to the minimalist interior your best friend will be a statement piece!

Something that’s going to fill up the room with so much life and freshness! And definitely something that will catch the eye of everyone who enters your living area!

And an amazing thing? That can be anything! You can go for a huge art piece above the couch, a big couch in very vivid color, or maybe a grandiose chandelier hung right above the center of the place! Don’t be afraid to go big and bold!

9. Go Industrial And Show The Real Elements

When you’re in a minimalist room, the most simple things can serve as decor and add some liveliness to the area.

One of those things are walls and floors! I told you it’s the simple things that matter sometimes! Not just decor and furniture!

Feel free to keep up those brown, brick walls, expose the hardwood floors and leave the wood logs of the fireplace in an open area! They will all match exceptionally well with the simplicity of the furniture!

In fact, they would balance each other out very well! The place would still be minimalist without being too bare or bland! I’m sure that even those who weren’t into minimalism previously but are into industrialism would be huge fans of a living room like this!

10. Take A Peek At The Future

Futuristic style often has that space-like decor and round interior areas that go amazing with the minimalist style!

You can go fully monochrome which is pretty minimalist in itself! Now imagine putting up only a handful of furniture choices with a slight sprinkle of decor as finishing touches and there we go! The perfect futuristic minimalist living room!

There’s room to experiment with this combination though, of course! You don’t have to go fully monochrome, but instead can opt to combine some other colors which give off those futuristic vibes such as a deep blue and black!

Conclusion

Minimalism is at the top of its game for a reason and I highly doubt we will see the end of its reign any time soon!

Its ability to easily adapt to different styles and combine the elements of different aesthetics while not losing a theme of its own is quite amazing and definitely worth the praise!

It does, however, make it all that harder for us to decide which route to take once we choose to make our home minimalist! So, let these 10 minimalist living room ideas for the minimalist home of your dreams be your guide in figuring out which style is the one for you!
