Stepping Inside 6 Fairytale Houses Will Feel Like Stepping Into A Real Fairytale

Stepping Inside 6 Fairytale Houses Will Feel Like Stepping Into A Real Fairytale

Sharing is caring!

Let’s not lie ourselves, everyone as a kid wanted to live in a fairytale. The blissful life and the happy ending are ah-so-appealing. However, fairytales never come true and that’s the cold truth about life.

Fairytales might not, but houses can come true.

Inspired by stories from around the world, some popular, some less, people have built houses, cottages, and mansions. The fairytale vibes with all of them are super strong.

By the end of this sweet journey, one question will be waiting you: which is your favorite fairytale?

1. Hattemerbroek House

With its green exterior, surrounded by a ton of greenery, the first house on the list today reminds me of the Secret Garden story I used to love as a kind. I loved imagining a lovely little house in the middle of the garden just for me. It was my imaginary sanctuary.

Years later, I see someone was peeking inside my imagination because this house was all I had ever wanted. I bet the inside looks as magical as the outside does.

One thing that really gave that magical, fairytale touch is the fact there are mirrors on the sides of the house, creating an illusion of a never-ending place. See, magic, I told you!

2. Martha’s Vineyard Gingerbread House

Hansel and Gretel, were you guys here? Who took the witch’s candy house and brought it to Massachusetts?

If you were ever wondering what a real-life Hansel and Gretel house looks like, then you don’t have to wonder anymore. The Gingerbread house is nestled in Martha’s Vineyard, a spot in Oak Bluffs, and you’re gonna love it. This is the house that makes you wish you were living in a fairytale.

Okay, maybe not the one where witches eat kids.

I don’t know if the place was inspired by the Gingerbread house we all built for Christmas, but it’s the only thing it reminds me of.

I wonder if you can eat it just as the kids in the fairytale did? I bet the balcony tastes wonderful!

3. The House In The Clouds

There are strong vibes with this house and I can’t decide what it reminds me of.

At first, The House in the Clouds reminded me of Rapunzel’s tower. I could definitely picture her dropping down her hair so the prince could climb up.

But then, I also see elements from The House On Chicken Legs, the popular Slavic tale about Baba Yaga. Look it up and you’ll see the resemblance.

Lastly, have you ever watched Howl’s Moving Castle? I can’t shake the feeling this might be the real-life version of the popular movie.

The lovely tall house painted red surely is one of the most unique houses you’ll ever see. If not unique, then it is definitely the tallest one.

4. The Rapunzel Tower House In North Carolina

Rapunzel from Disney’s movie escaped the tower and Mother Gothel. She found her happiness and she found her prince.

I like to imagine they two lived in a small house like this, featuring a tower resembling the one Rapunzel lived in. It’s got undeniable charm, cozy vibes, and family energy- something Rapunzel always wanted.

A house doesn’t have to be super tacky and full of details to have fairytale vibes. We often picture them in our minds as houses with lots of flower wines wrapped around them.

But, sometimes a single detail like the tower in this house, can remind you of a story you heard a long time ago.

5. Earl Young’s Mushroom Houses

Don’t tell me this isn’t Snow White’s cottage in the woods! Oh, I mean dwarfs’ cottage. This is the exact replica of what I always had in my mind when someone was reading Snow White to me.

It’s a cottage I always pictured with open windows, Snow White baking a non-toxic pie, and dwarfs happily entering it after a long day at the mine.

Designed by the popular Earl Young, this cottage is a part of his Mushroom Houses project in Michigan.

I didn’t know Snow White lived in Michigan!

6. Casa Caracol

The little mermaid didn’t live on the ground (well at least not for long). If we follow the fairytale, she and the prince were never a thing despite her grand love. Instead of having a sad ending, how about we give this poor mermaid a second chance?

Let’s combine the little mermaid from the story and the cartoon version and give Ariel a home on the ground she’s gonna love. This conch-shaped house is an absolute masterpiece. It reminds me of tiny houses you put in fish tanks!
