Dorothy Downsized Into A THOW And It Was The Best Decision In Her Life

Sharing is caring!

Oh, Toto… I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore!

One special Dorothy was missing her home. But this Dorothy found her forever house, a place where she could live happily ever after.

It’s not a typical house. After entering her seventh decade and losing her husband, Dorothy didn’t know what to do with herself. Everything changed all of a sudden.

That’s when she found out about tiny houses on wheels or THOWs and fell in love with the concept.

It was doable and it was everything Dorothy needed for a fresh start.

Swapping A Traditional House For A THOW

This is Dorothy, the proud owner of a charming THOW that brings her all the comfort of a classic home.

Deciding she should live in a THOW was one of the best decisions ever. Cutting down on bills and getting the utmost comfort was just a lovely bonus. The dream-like house came from a company specialized in building them.

This is a standard model named Charleston, 10 feet wide and 30 feet long. The THOW looks like someone put the idyllic little house at the end of the street on wheels and allowed it to keep all its charm.

As Dorothy says, the exterior of the house requires zero to no upkeep and that’s exactly what she wanted since she is not getting any younger.

The Charleston was designed to have a bedroom loft and you can see that on the exterior of the house. However, since Dorothy is a lady well into her seventh decade, she decided a bedroom loft would be unnecessary. Just imagine her getting older and climbing stairs to reach her bedroom.

It was an absolute no and she had the designers change the house, exclude the stairs, and add a ground bedroom.

The inside of the house or the Shamrock as she calls it, is so different from the exterior. It’s full of bright colors and neat details, and it definitely reflects Dorothy as a person.

Plants, trinkets, decor, details, and whatnot! Dorothy’s house still has plenty of space to host guests and still feel comfortable.

Downsizing was the best thing that happened to her lately, especially when it came to cleaning the house. It only takes less than half an hour to tidy up everything and get the house cleaned! It’s magic!

The Magic Of Downsizing

If you wanna live tiny and you’re ready for it, you will never regret it.

The downsizing works great for Dorothy because she lives alone. She doesn’t need a spacious kitchen, dining areas, big living rooms and all the other big spaces. The basics are enough.

And she still has so much space in the kitchen to store groceries and prepare delicious dishes!

Dorothy’s kitchen is in the middle of the THOW and her bedroom continues in the back. As I mentioned before, instead of using the loft space for the bedroom, she picked the other option which is the ground floor and she doesn’t feel cramped in here at all.

There’s still room for her queen-size bed!

It’s snuggly, cozy, and comfy, and this old gal doesn’t need anything else. What I love about her bedroom are the details. The stained window with a dolphin painted on it is spectacular!

Dorothy says she loves being woken up by the game of lights coming inside first thing in the morning. The whole room fills up with light reflecting off her crystal trinkets and the stained window, and it’s absolutely gorgeous!

Downsizing doesn’t mean you have to live in tight spaces. Dorothy’s THOW is a great example of it. Even her bathroom is a spacious one with a proper walk-in shower, which was her must.

Everywhere in the THOW is light pine wood, even in the bathroom.

Dorothy’s house is definitely a home. It’s warm, welcoming, and inviting. No wonder she got lots of new friends. Such a cheerful woman deserves a cheerful home like this one.

That’s the magic of downsizing: being happy in a small space and finally finding your peace.
