Whether you identify as Bilbo, Froddo, Sam, Merry or Pipping, you’re welcome. This is exclusive content for hobbits only.
After many years, the Middle Earth is alive again and all we can see are tiny hobbit holes growing everywhere like mushrooms. The world is occupied by tiny burrow houses and tiny people living in them.
Hobbits are back and they want new homes, something like these 7 best holes I already found!
1. Wee Nook And Hobbit Hole
Every little hobbit loves a nice and tiny home, preferably one underground in a cozy hole. However, times have changed since Tolkien wrote about The Shire. Modern-day hobbits love their burrows, but they tend to build homes slightly more on top of the ground.
Still, that doesn’t mean their burrows won’t be covered in grass and moss.
The Week Nook is a hobbit hideout in Tennessee and it’s promising a cozy place where you can enjoy living tiny to the fullest.
Peek Inside The Wee Nook
So much room to make a second breakfast! And so much room to enjoy it too.
You know hobbits; they really love their food. Luckily, the Wee Nook comes with a nice kitchen that allows you to enjoy proper meals while enjoying your staycation. If we have to speak styles, I have to point out that it’s a kitchen designed in a lovely farmhouse style.
I’m sure some farmer hobbits would appreciate the good ol’ farmhouse vibes.
2. Oregon Hobbit House
This is where things get interesting!
Normally, hobbits live in burrows underground, but this brave little hobbit decided he wanted to experience the great outdoors. Enter the scene: the lovely stone house inspired by the houses in The Shire, along with round doors and hobbit-like furniture inside.
The Oregon Hobbit house is an impressive and grandiose building with tons of details. Every time you look at the house you spot a new detail that blows your mind. I absolutely love how they did the exterior in stacked stone.
I have one question tho… Do all these stones come from Moria’s mines?
Come Inside, Little Hobbit
Well, since Gimli’s not here to answer that question, I believe we should carry on.
The Oregon Hobbit house has plenty of details that remind me of Bilbo’s home. The round doorways continue inside as well, and this time, they’re even more special!
The real Bilbo might have a standard little bed, this bedroom nook is so much cooler than that. Imagine crawling up in here, taking a looong nap after all those meals. That’s the sweet life every hobbit would want.
Besides the practical use of the bedroom nook, I can’t help but point out how stylish it appears. I believe this nook would be trendy even outside the Shire.
3. The Sassafras Dome Earth House
Okay, hear me out: wouldn’t this be the ideal home for Pippin and Merry? These conjoined dome houses are ideal for modern versions of hobbit BFFs!
The two domes align perfectly next to each other and have a lovely terrace with a view as a common ground.
This would definitely be a great choice for hobbits who love open spaces, lots of air, and bright rooms. Yeah, I know that’s not what hobbits usually like, but still… You never know when someone might change their mind.
Only Modern Hobbits Are Allowed In
That window has strong elvish vibes. Technically, it hardly qualifies as a hobbit’s house from this point of view, but I promise it is. Elves have helped Froddo a lot and they deserve an homage to their history in a modern hobbit home.
If I were a young hobbit looking for a home after many adventures throughout Middle Earth, I’d love to come home to a cloud-like bed and a view through the bedroom window that’s to die for. This would’ve kept me going while trying to defeat the Dark Lord’s army.
4. Dunlap Hollow Cave House
There’s a hobbit hiding in all of us! Times have evolved and we’re all modern people today, so our inner hobbits should be modern too. What better way to channel one than by staying at this fancy cave burrow with strong Bilbo vibes?
I know what you might think: I don’t see anything hobbit on the outside other than the burrow shape.
I get you, because it’s the inside really that has me thinking of Bilbo Baggins and his youth.
Come Take A Look Inside
See, aren’t these totally Bilbo vibes? I could definitely picture him going through books by that gorgeous built-in shelf with gothic vibes.
I can almost see him dining here with Gandalf and dwarf visitors.
The inside of the Dunlap Hollow Cave House is an elegant and a bit mysterious setup. It doesn’t have round doors or anything you’ve seen in the movie, but it does got something crucial: very tasteful furniture pieces.
Hobbits are known for liking nicely decorated homes, and this is exactly one of them.
Bilbo, if you ever come back as a trendy hobbit, I’d be saving this home for you.
5. Hobbit Hole In Vermont
Credits: Airbnb
Hobbits live in Vermont too!
As one of the States with the prettiest nature, in my opinion, Vermont is the perfect hobbit homeland. A tiny house with a round door covered in grass and moss looks like a set from the movie. I almost thought this was a house front Spielberg’s set just sometime later.
What I love more than the burrow and the classic round door are the stacked rocks around the house, giving it an even more authentic energy.
Wonder What’s Inside The Hobbit Hole?
If the Dunlap Hollow was the house for modern Bilbo, this has to be the house for modern Froddo!
Froddo has finished his journey, the Middle Earth is free again. What if he got himself a nice little house like this one where he could enjoy his days writing books, cooking, gardening, and whatnot?
The color palette, the many wooden details, and some trinkets around the house remind me of good ol’ Froddo’s outfits. That iconic red vest, precisely.
This hobbit hole in Vermont is a hidden gem. Unlike many popular hobbit houses, this is a small and charming place where you should bring your LOTR trilogy and have a reading marathon.
6. The Hobbit House At June Farms
Hold on… is this Hobbiton? I swear it’s the identical one we all saw in hobbit’s capital!
The sloped rooftop underground covered in fresh green grass, the wooden round door, and the nice, tidy garden are the things you can find in a real hobbit village.
Since we don’t know precisely where The Shire would be today, it might as well be a part of West Sand Lake, New York where this hole is located.
Step Through The Round Door
The one thing that stands out in this house is definitely the low ceiling, a perfect fit for a hobbit. Following is the stone wall that makes this house look like it was carved into a rock.
Although it’s not a cave or anything similar, the hole at June Farms has cave vibes and lots of privacy for future visitors. I can picture myself sleeping in this bed, tucked in cozily as the fresh air in the hole wraps around me.
Every little hobbit loves a nice and comfy bed. I guarantee they would love this one too!
7. Luxury Hobbit House
Lastly, we’re heading off to Maine, where a nice, luxurious hobbits burrow is awaiting you.
Despite being modest creatures, hobbits deserve a bit of luxury here and there. We gotta reward them for being as extraordinary as they are.
The hole in Sanford, Maine doesn’t really look luxurious at first glance. It’s pretty standard for a hole in the ground with a slightly unusual front door.
The true subtle luxury happens as soon as you step inside.
Feel The Luxury Inside
Leather furniture in cognac shade, rustic and raw wooden furniture, and a fireplace that warms up the heart and the soul. Yep, it’s all subtle luxury a hobbit deserves. I mean, how many hobbits have the opportunity to own a leather sofa, let alone a fancy fireplace with tidy stone bits stacked one on top of the other?
Not many for sure, but this hobbit does!
When Froddo gets tired of the rustic style that comes with every hole in Hobbiton, he should come over to Main where all the modern hobbits live.
