I was browsing through Airbnb the other day – as one does – and I stumbled across a cabin made out of a shipping container.
Now, as you may know, shipping container houses have become super popular in the last couple of years since not only are they extremely cool but they are also incredibly sustainable.
However, when it comes to this little container cabin, hides one of the most spectacular features I have ever seen in a home. Want to know what it is? Well, you better keep on reading!
Located in the beautiful Columbus, North Carolina, this modern cabin is made out of a 40 ft container. This means that there are about 320 square feet of living space and, spoiler alert, it’s stunning.
The container is elevated up on a hill but there is a small space underneath that was designed in the perfect way. But more on that later since we are about to step inside.
Walking through the front door you will find yourself in the main living area.
The entirety of the interior is quite rustic, decorated in that Western style with all the dark colors and wooden elements.
The really long and comfortable couch is definitely the main character of this room. It will gladly host your tired body and allow you to lounge around for as long as you need to. Plus, it doubles up as another bed if you decide to have a friend over!
Right across the couch is the TV with a long wooden bench that is extremely functional.
As you move further down the home, you will enter the kitchen.
The kitchen area is exceptionally large for a home this size.
With its full-sized fridge, sink, cooktop, and microwave oven, making a delicious meal will be the simplest thing you will ever do. It also has tons of cabinets and shelves that store every kitchen gadget ever.
The design of this kitchen keeps up with the theme of the cabin, featuring a stunning blend of dark colors and raw wood elements.
Right behind the kitchen is the dining area.
A long edge wood table is mounted to a huge window that gives you dinner with a view.
But what’s really cool about this table is not the fact that it can sit up to four people, it’s actually its shape. Made to look like a serving tray, this table will make you feel like you are in one of those fancy burger places.
And if that isn’t a perfect fit for this rustic cabin, I don’t know what is!
Heading towards the end of the cabin you will stumble upon the bathroom.
Even though it is more on the smaller side, it still has everything you could ever need to stay clean and healthy.
A toilet, a super cool vanity, and a huge walk-in shower, is there anything missing? But what I absolutely love about this bathroom is the wooden backsplash behind the light-up mirror.
Plus, it is completely closed off, giving you all the privacy you could ever need!
Finally, on to the bedroom!
With a king-sized bed taking up most of the space, this room really is dreamland!
A wooden backsplash gives the room that luxurious feel while two huge windows flood it with tons of natural light. You can lower the blinds when you sleep but be careful, you might be missing out on some pretty breathtaking views.
However, we are not done yet. There is a little door in the kitchen that leads you straight to the deck area.
Apart from an abundance of chairs for you and your friends, the deck is also equipped with a grill. All you have to do is throw some yummy food on the fire, wait until it’s done, and enjoy!
And if that’s not enough, feel free to head down to the hot tub and the fire pit and make some s’mores!
Still not enough? Well, remember that cool feature I mentioned earlier? It’s finally time to reveal it, and I guarantee it will seal the deal.
Drum roll, please… It’s a waterfall! And not just any old waterfall, a waterfall with a swing bed next to it.
Located right beneath this container is a slice of paradise. Water trickles through the stones, creating a serene pond that’s truly one-of-a-kind. I promise you’ve never seen anything quite like it.
Whether you want to read a book, unwind, take a nap, or even spend the night, this spot is perfect for it all – you won’t regret a single moment!
I’ve seen countless homes, from cozy little cabins to mind-blowing mansions, but nothing has ever come close to matching this one.
Not only can you escape the hustle and bustle of the world and find the peace and quiet you crave, but you can do so in style.
