The Incredible Before And After Of An Old Shipping Container

The Incredible Before And After Of An Old Shipping Container

Sharing is caring!

Where do shipping containers go when they’re too old to work overseas?

On to a patch of land to work as a house!

This is just some architectural humor. I’m not really a funny person, but I did get that right. Most old shipping containers that are in great condition usually end up as small houses.

This time around, it was no different. An old shipping container decided to retire and serve as a sweet little retreat.

… to this:

Isn’t she a beauty?

The build is cheap, fast, and practical. What’s not to love there?

Keeping the corrugated container walls, the house gained extra charm points feeling a bit rustic-chic. Of course, to make it feel like home, windows were added, and so were the traditional roof and a covered front porch.

Yes, I’d totally hang my net on that porch and swing peacefully into oblivion.

Inside the shipping container, the space is usually narrow and long, but still plentiful enough to put in a fully functioning kitchen, a living room area, a bathroom, and a bedroom. In this case, a desk that can double as an indoor dining area was added too.

I’m a fan of basic colors and materials used in space that get elevated by adding unusual details. For example, this photo hanging above the couch is a great way to lift the mood here and make the room appear brighter and happier.

Details In The Bedroom

The kitchen is on one end of the container, and the bedroom is on the other, ensuring silence and keeping your bed away from the smells of cooking.

Although the bedroom is quite small, the designer was able to squeeze in a decent bed and a closet which is on the opposite wall you don’t see right now, as well as some decorative shelves. Placing objects on the walls not only saves space but also makes the room more attractive.

More Smart Solutions

Surprisingly, the bathroom is pretty normal-sized and has everything for a comfortable stay. I love smart solutions like the one where putting the washing machine under the countertop gives you extra spots. You can put your towels there, maybe some decorations, your skincare products, etc.

All in all, what once was an old shipping container now is a house packed with smart solutions. It’s an almost blank canvas waiting for fresh ideas to make it more personal and up to your desires.
