We’re Going On An Arctic Escape To See What’s It Like To Live In A Dome Under The Northern Lights

Sharing is caring!

One of the places I want to visit desperately is the Arctic Circle. But, I’m still lacking the time, the devotion, and the tolerability towards the cold weather. As a summer kid, snow and I don’t really like each other.

Still, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy seeing the cold areas covered in ice and snow from the other side of the screen.

And that doesn’t mean I’m not interested to see how people live there. Benjamin and Ingrid’s dome home caught my attention and I had to see what they did out here.

Imagine my surprise when I found out it’s an eco-friendly, sustainable haven.

Oh, wait until I show you!

It does look like it’s in the Arctic Circle, does it?

Benjamin and Ingrid’s home is nestled in the Arctic tundra. They live here all year round, whether it snows or shines.

The family opted for a sustainable life in their self-built home, and that decision was groundbreaking.

When you have a charming, yet unique home like this, civilization is not to be missed.

Look how gorgeous their dome looks against the sunset sky!

It may seem like they’re living on the edge of the world, but for Benjamin and Ingrid, this is the perfect place to warm their hearts—and maybe a cup of cocoa or two. Who needs city lights when you have the Northern Lights?

Speaking Of…

Did someone mention the Northern Lights?

Many people want to experience seeing Aurora Borealis. A lot of them never get the chance to.

But, living in a place where spotting Aurora is almost a daily occurrence, sounds like a dream. For Benjamin and Ingrid, it’s just another breathtaking backdrop to their extraordinary life. In a place where the sky dances with colors every night, who needs a TV when nature puts on a show?

Santa’s Workshop Vibes

Hold on! Are you sure we’re not in Santa’s Village? This surely reminds me of the entrance into Santa’s Workshop.

Oh, I know! This could be their secret outpost, a little backup retreat for Santa and Mrs. Clause.

Do I feel like Christmas came up here and threw up? A little bit, but that’s the point. You want to make everything bubbling with joy, and such entrance into the dome gives those exact vibes.

A Home For The Family

Keep in mind that Benjamin and Ingrid live here with their kids and their pets. This is a functional home, even though it looks rustic.

Well, it is a sustainable home, after all.

Upon entering, there are a few things that immediately catch my attention: the wooden beams and frame large windows that offer panoramic views of the icy wilderness.

The walls are adorned with repurposed materials, giving each room a unique, lived-in charm. A mix of vintage and handcrafted furniture creates an inviting warmth, proving that sustainability and style can coexist in the coldest of climates.

The entire house was built using sustainable sources. They used a lot of recycled wood, materials found in the area, and simply old things that were given a new purpose. The end result is a home that cares about the environment more than some people.

Having a modern house, not an eco-friendly wonder here in the Arctic, sounds simply wrong.

The Cozy Family Room

A great thing about this family is that they appreciate the time spent outside. They love living with nature, taking from it and giving back.

Still, they do need to come inside at some point, especially when the weather becomes too difficult to handle. Come to rescue, this lovely family area is carved in wood and decorated with a bunch of colorful throw pillows.

One of my favorite things about this home is the use of colors. Everything’s so bright, vibrant, and… happy!

This is definitely a place where you won’t know what sadness is.

I Was Not Expecting This

The rest of the house sure has lots of sustainable vibes. I expected the bathroom to be the same, but then I got some lovely, contemporary pieces paired with rustic elements.

The golden mirror frame adds a touch of vintage glamour, while the raw wooden shelves and upcycled sink table remind you that this home stays true to its sustainable roots.

Twinkling string lights and neatly hung accessories give the space a cozy, lived-in vibe, as if it’s saying, “Yes, I’m functional, but I’ve got flair.”

The freestanding bathtub beckons you to soak away Arctic chills, and let’s be honest—who wouldn’t want to unwind in a tub surrounded by such character?

The Heart Of Every Home

The kitchen is definitely the heart of every home. And this one is no exception at all!

It radiates warmth and charm with its natural wood finishes and arched windows that let in soft, dappled light.

The shelves are thoughtfully stocked with colorful dishes, jars of spices, and a splash of greenery, making it feel alive and inviting. The handcrafted island, with its rounded edges and cozy stools, beckons for long chats over morning coffee or shared moments preparing meals together.

It’s the kind of space where the aroma of freshly baked bread mingles with the laughter of family.

And… it’s home.
