Come See An Oregon Hobbit House Where You Can Feel Like A Real Hobbit

Sharing is caring!

Mae Govannen!

Hello little hobbit and welcome to your new home!

I remember the first time I saw a hobbit house in real life. For a Tolkienist like me, it was a dream come true.

And I can’t tell you how sad I was for not being able to spend some time in that house. I was a kid, and fortunately for me, I grew up and so did architectural dreams inspired by the Middle Earth.

We’re lucky enough to have plenty of Hobbit-inspired places around the world. Lots of burrows, houses carved in stone, and hideouts for those who love experiencing the Shire firsthand.

Some houses are quite modern like this Bilbo house, while others are rustic and appear to be stolen from another time. Just like the new hobbit house I have for you today.

Not A Hole In The Ground, But Still Fit For A Hobbit

When Tolkien was writing his masterpieces, he thought of their history as the story of our planet, long before the time we all know.

From today’s POV, hobbits are long gone, but, there’s an excuse to every rule. Seems to me like hobbits still live in the USA, precisely in Oregon.

A couple who wanted their special little home for more than 10 years finally got their piece of Middle Earth nestled in the woods of the state of Oregon.

The house is actually a cross between a cottage and a cabin, built using tilework, carved wood and stone, all to create an atmosphere of the time long gone.

The Shire’s Pride

Stone and wood carvings, fenestration that makes everyone envious, the appearance of a magical house in the woods—yep, that’s this trendy hobbit’s place.

When you look at it with a different pair of eyes, the modern burrow clearly looks like it doesn’t belong in this world. Some flowers along the terrace and you’ll get a place even Tolkien would feel envious about.

Speak “Friend” And Enter

When Bilbo and the company arrived at the Mines of Moria, they stood before the Doors of Durin, waiting for Bilbo’s burglar skills to shine through. Nothing happened.

Then, the inscription on the stone clearly said Speak friend and enter, and a simple Elvish word for a friend, Mellon, let them in.

Your Elvish doesn’t have to be great to know this powerful word. It’s a word that opens even the toughest doors.

And it’s a word that could open this round door, the OG hobbit-styled front door.

Positioned neatly in the middle of the stone wall where bits and pieces were laid one by one, these doors in stained wood, are a portal to a whole new dimension you’re about to enter.

I Know This Is Going To Be An Adventure

Bilbo went shouting he was going on an adventure, but you’ll be left speechless once you enter this house.

As an interior designer, I was left stunned by these ceilings full of exposed beams and curved lines. Although hobbit houses are usually small, even Gandalf had to bend down to enter, this hobbit house welcomes everyone, from tiny hobbits to Ents.

Okay, maybe not Ents since they’re trees, but still… You get what I’m aiming for.

The wood used proportionally throughout the house is promising a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Every hobbit house is welcoming, so let’s see if this one keeps up with the standard.

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

This is my favorite line from Tolkien’s books.

Of course, there are many others I love, but this one stuck in my head ever since I first read his books as a teenager. Here’s a little secret about me: I have the line tattooed on my back and it’s a tattoo I’ll never regret.

I can picture myself going through the books, reading my favorite parts, as other books from my collection sit patiently on the shelf.

This is the ideal place for a bookworm, especially a Tolkienist.

Don’t tell me that lamp isn’t from Bilbo’s home! Those are totally his vibes!

Could This Be The Prettiest Fireplace Ever?

I’ve seen a bunch of fireplaces, but never something like this.

It totally suits the vibes of this hobbit house and makes me think Froddo painted it himself.

Isn’t it magical? I bet that’s a cherry tree from the Shire!

Bilbo Always Makes Sure He’s Got A Bed Ready And Waiting For Him

The traditional bedroom, with a cozy bed and soft bedding, is something hobbits love. Even Bilbo made sure he always had a bed ready for a good night’s sleep.

Of course, adventures were never as comfortable as he thought they would be. But, at the end of the day, he returned home, to his sweet and cozy abode.

Instead of a traditional bedroom, this modern hobbit house has a nook as a bedroom with a circular entrance, what else?

I don’t know what’s cuter: the entrance, the cozy bed, or that adorable tiny window!

Boil ‘em, Mash ‘em, Stick ‘em In A Stew

Po-ta-toes!

Or maybe a second breakfast?

Or how about that trout Smeagle caught?

Fix anything you want in this tiny, but functional kitchen.

Although the kitchen looks rustic at first with wooden cabinets and countertops when you take a closer look, you’ll see modern amenities too. I love how the hood above the stove was designed in an almost ancient style.

If Bilbo had one, that would definitely be his!

When a house has a cozy kitchen like this, cooking is a piece of cake, a task you finish with a smile, looking forward to the next of the seven meals hobbits have.

We’re Not Orcs, For Crying Out Loud

Even if you couldn’t see, the scent of an orc or a troll would tell you they were close.

Hobbits don’t have this problem. They’re clean creatures and their homes are nice and tidy.

I’ve never seen a hobbit’s bathroom, but I bet it looks exactly like this one with decorative elements like the mirror or the deer head above the sink. Speaking of the sink… I can’t… I have no word that could justify this beauty!
