One of my close friends is thinking of getting a second home somewhere far from the city rush. The funds are not the problem, and neither is the land on which she would build.
The only problem is finding the right house and floor plan for her and her partner.
I’d be happy to design a home for them, but she knows I’m just too busy in this time of the year, and she wants to speed up the whole process so she could move in quickly.
Luckily, I do know some terrific amateur interior designers and architects who post their work online. This time around, I found Elsie her ideal home where she and her husband could enjoy themselves forever!
The Simple Modern House She’s Gonna Love
Elsie’s major request was to find her a home with a large terrace so she basically had no need to get inside other than to use the bathroom.
The front porch or the terrace is a covered area so she can rest outside even if the weather isn’t that nice. There is a lovely seating zone by the entrance. The whole front wall is in glass so you can see what’s going on inside. The glass wall has black steel frames around and I love this touch of industrial.
When you look at the entire picture, you can notice the house with its flat roof, glass walls, and metal accents is a modern marvel. This house is Elsie, but I have a feeling you’re gonna love it too!
Keeping Things Simple
Elsie asked me to find her a home where the living room area wouldn’t be so big and spacious. She loves all things tiny, and she hates tidying up her apartment. Hence, a small, yet super stylish living room is in order.
This room has that stunning deep blue accent wall behind the TV and an elegant white sofa perfect for guests to come over.
Still, I’m not impressed with the accents or the posh furniture: my favorite part of the room is the irregular window in the back that both lets in lots of natural light and serves as a stylish spot in the house.
What Do You Think About Mixing Blue And Green?
I’m not sure what to think about this combination of sage green kitchen counters and cobalt blue backsplash. Do I love the tiny hexagon tiles? Absolutely? Is green one of my favorite colors for kitchen cabinets? Yes! Then, I guess it’s gotta work.
My friend will have to like it because sometimes you just have to live a little and step outside your comfort zone.
The Cool Part
This kitchen has a couple of cool features such as the dining table adjacent to the kitchen counter creating an island when you need it. Then there’s the side wall in glass, visually increasing the size of the kitchen and adding a trendy factor.
I’m starting to believe Elsie’s gonna love cooking in here. She’s all about trends and I know she’s gonna hop on this kitchen trend too!
Bedroom As The Simple Option
Simple bedroom designs are great because you don’t have to add a bunch of details to make it work. My friend’s only wish for the bedroom is to have a nice, comfy bed. And that’s it.
The bedroom in this tiny house is a simple sanctuary with a bed in the center of attention, some open shelves by the closet, and that’s that.
Oh, and we do have some lovely marble accents on the wall behind the bed.
It’s simple, but at the same time, it’s elegant and leaves room for personalizing the room when you want it.
Continuing With The Sage Green
Normally, when I do modern bathrooms, I pick colored vanities to make the room pop a bit. This design here features an accent wall in the lovely sage green, the same color as the cabinets in the kitchen.
I gotta admit, seeing this wall makes me think I’m gonna change my approach from now on. There’s nothing wrong with simple, white elements. Just add a pop of color like this green or any other shade you love, and your bathroom will go from a dull one into a spectacular one.
I know this is just a bathroom, but knowing my friend, this is one of the most important things for her.
The Best Idea Ever
Whoever thought of having a laundry room instead of placing the washer and dryer combo into bathrooms deserves a prize. You save SO MUCH space, and you don’t get to hear all that noise. Oh, and let’s not forget: these units aren’t aesthetically pleasing at all.
Fortunately, installing a washing machine under this counter, adding shelves, and some lovely photo details, turned out to be a great idea, one of the best ever.
The eyesore of the house is gone and you can do your laundry without bugging anyone. I have a laundry in my house and Elsie said countless times how she wants the same too.
This goes without saying, when you have extra nooks, turn them into laundry spots!
