I have a kids song stuck in my head since I first saw these cabins and now I wanna share it with you. Because, why should I be the only one constantly looping down by the bay in my head?
Technically, the place with these magical tiny cabins isn’t a bay; it’s a river nestled between the trees and it’s wonderful!
This tiny cabin village is Live Oak Lake in the heart of Waco, Texas and it features seven amazing cabins. If you plan to get here, trust me, you won’t know which cabin to choose in the end.
Still, the good news is that they’re all worth experiencing.
The Exterior That Doesn’t Seem To Belong Here
Yeah, at first glance, the cabin may appear as if it’s a container not belonging to unspoiled nature here by the river. But, a closer look reveals it’s a wooden cabin with an A-frame roof and black siding blending seamlessly.
All seven cabins look the same with only some minor details you won’t even notice at first. The cabins feature a front wall completely in glass and a small porch right by the entrance.
Everything’s so lovely and dainty, I have to wonder if the outside matches the inside!
It Sure Is Something
Well, the outside and the inside don’t match at all! They’re completely different in style AND color. And, guess what? I absolutely love it!
Once you step into one of the seven cabins you’ll be greeted by wonderful light furniture, a bunch load of coziness, and some really fancy furniture pieces. The room is a modern paradise everyone would appreciate.
This is totally not something I was expecting to see down by the river. However, it doesn’t mean I don’t love the contrast. Au contraire! Having it any other way would be just wrong.
What impresses me the most about living room areas in these cabins is the presence of light, and picture windows that allow the first sun rays to peek inside and stay there until the day settles.
A Classic Kitchen With A New Vibe
Wooden kitchens will always be trendy, no matter the decade we’re in. However, I prefer when they’re adapted to the style we’re all currently vibing in.
All cabins in the Live Oak Lake community are the same with some minor differences. The kitchen is in the back, right past those lovely black spiral stairs that lead up to the loft.
The combination of wooden elements, black backsplash, and black countertops gives out industrial chic energy. For a moment I felt the ultimate hygge experience in these cabins. That’s what you get when you mix the styles: the feeling there’s always something else left undiscovered that reveals itself when its time.
Being Woken Up By First Signs Of Light
That giant skylight window really impressed me. I was expecting some light source on the angled roof, but not this big.
The loft is showered in natural light which is something you don’t usually see in bedroom lofts. All the cabins I’ve seen normally have small, dark lofts with tiny windows. They look more like dens than lofts!
But, why shouldn’t you have a nice, large window where you can look at the stars at night? I bet the sky looks wonderful from this point. The scene is almost idyllic with you laying in a cozy, cloud-like bed, watching the stars sparkle until you fall asleep.
The Surprise You’re Gonna Love
Naah, I’m not talking the hot tub in the back, although you do get to use it while you’re here. That’s a nice surprise, but I have some other tub in my mind: the one in the bathroom!
The big surprise is actually the big bathroom. One might think a small cabin would have a small bathroom. However, since the bedroom is up in the loft, there was space to make the bathroom nice and comfortable.
The color palette here follows the same guidelines as the rest of the room. Everywhere you look you see white and wooden details, and then… there’s a pop of color in the back!
The tub, which also features a glass door so it can double as a shower, has black tiles around it to ease up the cleaning and add a bit of pop into the room. And lastly, the ceiling with exposed beams wraps everything up and makes it look like a prestigious spa experience.
All The Things You Can Do Around Here
I’d be happy if I could only come here, sit by the river, and do nothing. Still, there are folks outthere looking for more active staycations.
Being close to the river allows visitors to use all kinds of fun amenities such as the kayak.
The hot tub is right there on the property so you can hop in anytime you want.
But, my personal favorite is sitting in front of the cabin by the fire pit, enjoying the view, the tranquillity of the river, and the tiny string lights reflecting on its surface.
