Our old log cabins walked so the new trend, chalets could run!
Log cabins are the family’s favorite places to escape to and spend some time in the mountains. But, before the traditional log cabin, there was a chalet: a simple place in the mountains where shepherds and farmers used to gather around.
Lately, everyone’s talking about chalets as something new, fancy, and prestigious. Well, no wonder since a vast majority of chalets today are luxurious buildings.
The style is becoming more and more popular, even outside the mountain range.
I’m not surprised that some people are picking important parts of their homes to be featured in this style. The need for chalet-style living room ideas is huge. That’s why I gathered 10 best living room examples that will make you wish it was winter all year round.
1. Luxury In Every Detail
Traditionally, chalets were small, cottage-like houses for farmers in the mountains. But, today, thanks to many influencers and celebrities, chalets have gotten a prestigious connotation. Apparently, we have log cabins for normal folks and chalets for VIPS.
It’s even going so far that the interior design of chalets starts to agree with the division.
However, I’m a strong believer that everything can look either modest of luxurious only if you want it that way. Someone wanted this chalet to have luxurious elements and I’m completely fine with that.
I absolutely love the deep brown leather furniture concentrated around the massive and incredibly unique fireplace. There’s a dash of luxury in every corner.
Still, they kept the OG chalet vibes with the rustic, exposed beams on the ceiling. What a lovely surprise!
2. The Picturesque Living Room
Give me a giant picture window, a cozy sofa, fire crackling in the back and I’ll be a happy camper!
This simple chalet-style living room is such a simple beauty with all wood furniture, a massive fireplace, and a picture window with a sight to go nuts about.
I love how they didn’t use too much furniture to overcrowd the room and try to make it more special than it really is. They focused on what’s really important, and that’s the window.
Just imagine the place outside covered in snow. That’s worth more than you could ever imagine!
3. The Log Cabin Has Leveled Up
Log walls are one of my favorite parts of every cabin or chalet. It’s the wooden smell that gets me every time. Oh, and when you combine that natural scent with the scent of leather furniture… I’m in love!
This living room looks like a standard small cabin living room that has leveled up and the improvements are amazing
For starters, the spaciousness of the living room is amazing since it fits in so many comfy furniture pieces. And then, the picture windows! With a view like that, I’d never look at anything else in here.
4. The Modern Chalet
No one said chalets should have only wooden furniture, wooden walls, and cabin vibes. We live in modern times so a modern chalet is very much an option.
Don’t tell anyone, but I like it almost as much as I like the traditional one.
This chalet-style living room is an open-concept room with the kitchen in the back. The furniture is pretty basic, but the details make the room chalet-worthy.
Although I’m not a fan of using real animal fur or skin let’s pretend this is a faux one and agree it looks so pretty in the living room.
5. You Must Have A Fireplace
Fireplaces are the central points of every chalet house. Not only do they warm up the space, but they always look so incredible, no matter their style or size.
Fire has always been the center of life. People gathered around it for protection and warmth. Today, we all gather around the fireplace for that cozy feeling and to bond with our loved ones.
This fireplace is a modern one, but it doesn’t deny the fact it looks absolutely stunning. It’s a massive piece with glass walls since it’s actually an electric fireplace.
Modern or old, contemporary or classic, chalets are warm and snuggly places that keep our hearts full.
6. The View That’s Worth Millions
Modern chalets have that one major feature that I love. The view is worth millions!
Instead of classic log walls, modern chalet-style living rooms have lots of windows or even glass walls in this case, which offer views that steal breaths.
I can imagine myself in this living room, sipping hot cocoa, the fire is on, the snow is falling down outside, and the view keeps me locked in place for hours. That’s the idyllic chalet situation, something we all should experience at least once.
This modern chalet living room is simple, in earthy tones, and with a massive fireplace, but the glass walls make it truly impressive. It takes a little to make a person happy, but only if he values true beauty in life.
7. White And Wood Forever
White and wood will always be my favorite color combination. For the past couple of years, it’s trending and I’m in seventh heaven!
The combination looks so crispy clean and luxurious. You can’t go wrong with basic white or beige sofas along with warm-toned hardwood floors and furniture pieces. The biggest feature of this chalet-style living room is the ceiling with raw, exposed wooden beams.
Chalet-style living rooms usually always feature these beams. I find them quite lovely. They add such a welcoming, homey feel to the room and help you see that even the imperfect can look perfect.
8. The Shabby Chalet
Chalet style is… chalet style! You have your wooden beams, stone fireplaces, wooden furniture, and comfy cushions.
But, what if we introduced another style into the chalet-style living room just to make things more interesting?
I agree that the style is already interesting, but hear me out: everything looks better with a dash of shabbiness.
Shabby chic is one of my favorite styles and I knew it would look great with the chalet features. Just a bunch of small, floral details and some interesting decorations in this style have turned the classic chalet into the chicest spot in the mountains!
9. The Dominant Fireplace
The bigger the fireplace, the better!
Chalets feature fireplaces as centerpieces and I love that! In this case, the centerpiece is on the side, but it still dominates the room.
When you look closer, the fireplace is a narrow one and it’s electric. But, the mantle around it takes up the entire wall. It was purposely done that way to ensure the fireplace is the head-turner, something that instantly catches your attention as you walk in.
I find this chalet-style living room quite nice with all those earthy colors built-in shelves next to the fireplace, and another showstopper: the huge picture window wall.
With a view like this, no one needs a TV.
10. Warm And Toasty
Those are the exact feelings I get from this final chalet-style living room.
Everything’s so clean, beige, and almost perfect- just like the snow outside. When in doubt about how to decorate your chalet living room, or even which color to pick, just go with beige. Beige is the best neutral out there and goes well with pretty much anything.
And, if you ever get bored of it, just add some interesting pillows, maybe some curtains, and you have a whole new look.
But, I don’t know how would someone get tired of this. This living room is the ultimate beige perfection and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Final Touches
As I said at the beginning, log cabins walked so chalets could run.
The time of classic, small chalets in traditional style is over. Chalets are becoming VIP buildings and hideouts for those who love a good ol’ mountain vacation with style. More and more of such buildings are boasting luxury and proudly standing out amongst all the other buildings.
If you ever need inspo for your own house, these 10 chalet-style living rooms will jump in and help you. That’s as certain as the fact that the snow is white.
