Who’s up for a ride in a magical double-decker bus?
Nah, we’re not in a Harry Potter movie, although I see where the inspiration comes from.
I’ve always loved the scene when Harry gets picked up by a magical bus in the middle of the night. I remember when I was watching the movie for the first time and thinking how living in a bus house would be so cool.
I guess some other people shared my enthusiasm because today we do have a bus house, but not just an ordinary one! It’s a double-decker bus house that will give you the ride of your life!
Parked in Caldwell, Idaho, this former bus is now a lovely Airbnb you can rent and brag about how you spent the night in a bus.
But, not the way they would think at first. Then, you can show them pictures and everyone would be like Aah a bus house! How cool is that?!
This double-decker is the first bus house, not just in Idaho, but in the States as well. Brought back from across the pond, the bus was restored and adapted as a house that accommodates four people, along with a full kitchen, living room area, a bathroom, and some nooks.
The lounge inside matches the lovely green paint on the bus’s exterior. The whole area is giving me ’70s vibes, with leather sofas and wood bases.
On the other end of the first floor is the kitchen. Thankfully, since the bus is big, there is plenty of space for all kinds of elements, meaning the kitchen is a spacious one.
I can’t tell you how much I love this shade of green. It’s everything! See how well it goes with black hardware and darkwood floors. I feel that’s walnut on the countertops which is a really nice surprise considering where the kitchen is.
I mean, I haven’t seen an unusual house with so many high-quality elements in a while.
The great thing about this kitchen is that it’s got so many nooks, open shelves, and crannies where you can put your stuff away.
This is a terrific example of how space under the stairs can be used.
And this… this is how you make a simple kitchen look amazing:
Believe it or not, this entire sink cubby is decorated with copper metal with gorgeous details. It’s rustic, raw, and stunning. I find this idea quite genial since you always splash around the sink while doing the dishes. Copper is much simpler to clean than wood or walls.
And, on top of everything, it’s something super unique, something I never saw before!
The first floor is reserved for daily activities like cooking and hanging out. Climbing those beautiful green stairs with black landings will get you to the bedroom floor.
The first thing you see is a little living room nook with some cozy seats, a nice fluffy carpet, and some beautiful, airy curtains. Although this was designed to be a lounge, it can be transformed into a temp bedroom for additional guests.
The real bedroom is at the other end of the bus, and it’s got the only thing you need for a good night’s sleep: a cozy bed!
Probably the greatest thing about the entire bus house, not just the bedroom is the tinted windows to ensure privacy. The house is on a private lot, but you can never get enough privacy when renting a place.
Instead of closing the windows entirely, they went with tinting them thus allowing extra natural light to come in and elevate the place.
Who’d know you could fit a full bathroom into a double-decker?

Tiny, unusual houses usually have sustainable choices for bathrooms, but not this one. Think of it as a normal house, but a compact one.
Living in a double-decker bus house sounds so cool! I’d absolutely love to stay in here, even if it is just for one night.
