Just because something may be old and rundown, that doesn’t mean that it completely lost its potential.
Sometimes all it needs is a little love, some patience, and a sprinkle of goodwill to make it look brand new again.
I have seen so many abandoned spaces be brought back to their old glory or completely transformed into new and improved homes.
The little cabin that we are about to explore today has been proudly standing on this earth since the late 1800’s but an incredible architecture firm decided to clean it up a bit and make it a contemporary dream!
Keeping The Most Of The Original Cabin
The exterior of the cabin is quite simple. The designers maintained most of the original cabin’s design. They did enhanced it by adding extra windows for more natural light.
Its walls are made up of black wooden planks that keep that traditional feel of the cabin with a modern twist.
The front door, custom-made from blackbutt timber, leads you directly into the main living area.
And, as soon as you step into it, you can feel the weight being lifted off of your shoulders and melted away in the slick and minimalistic design.
The View From The Window
This room has a large clear glass window that allows parts of nature to slowly enter, taking all of that natural light along.
It also has a little bench where you can sit, read a book, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
Such Modern Vibes
When you want to change your position, a very comfortable gray couch will gladly accommodate you to lounge away as much as you need.
The wall next to the couch has a projector screen which really does come in handy during those rainy days. Just put on your favorite movie and enjoy!
Truly Stunning!
Right across from this living room area is the kitchen. Spoiler alert: it’s stunning!
Even though it is quite small it has absolutely everything you need to create a dinner for a large family. An oven and a cooktop, a hidden fridge, and a sink – everything is there!
But let us talk about the design.
All the cupboards and drawers, as well as the exposed shelves, are made out of wood. The thing that really makes it stand out is the black tile.
As it contrasts with the kitchen, it makes the entire space feel so much bigger than it is. It also makes you think that you are cooking in one of those fancy cooking shows!
This room also features an adorable fireplace. With its ability to heat up the room in a second, it also gives off that cozy feel that traditional every cabin has.
Nestled In The Corner
Now, on to the bedroom!
Separated from the main living space with a large cavity sliding door, the bedroom provides you with all the privacy you need.
The queen-sized bed, nestled in the corner next to a window, guarantees you the most restful night of your life.
It eagerly awaits to cuddle your tired little head, taking you to the land of dreams in a matter of seconds.
And if you don’t plan on falling asleep immediately, don’t worry. Feel free to do a little bit of star gazing through that adorable little window.
The foot of the bed hides three drawers that will hide all of your belongings, keeping the space nice and neat.
The Moment We’ve Been All Waiting For
Now, I have saved the best for last. Introducing… the bathroom!
Hidden behind another sliding door, this bathroom feels like you are in some kind of a botanical garden.
Its green tiles give you the feeling of peace and serenity. The incredible sink looks like an oversized cup makes you think that you are in one of those fancy spas!
I also love that wooden backsplash behind the mirror. Reminds you that you are in a cabin, doesn’t it?
There is nothing that I enjoy more than a carefully thought-out bathroom!
Living Sustainably
If you weren’t convinced before, you must be now: renovation is the future!
Living sustainably and giving that old home a little makeover will not only save you a couple of bucks but it will also give you unimaginable satisfaction.
Stepping inside a room and remembering that you created it while also saving the planet will make you never want to leave it!
