The Nook Is A Tree House We All Wanted When We Were Kids

The Nook Is A Tree House We All Wanted When We Were Kids

Sharing is caring!

I never had a treehouse growing up, although I desperately wanted one.

There were simply no trees big enough to support my dream.

Having no treehouse kind of explains my fascination with tiny houses and my obsessive need to have one someday.

One exactly like the tiny house in the woods of Swannanoa I’m about to show you…

Technically, The Nook is not a treehouse, but a house made among the trees. And it’s giving me vibes of a hidden retreat only a few people know about.

When you first look at it, there’s nothing too spectacular about its exterior. It’s a small house covered in shiplap cypress panels, with an oak deck, and the unusual, but spectacular shou sugi ban entrance.

Usually, tiny houses and cabins don’t have tall walls, but this one does. The ceiling is 18 feet tall here and allows vertical scaling of theme rooms in the house.

Of all the tiny houses for a getaway I’ve seen, this is in the top 5 of my personal favorites. There are so many cool things I wanna show you that will make you fall in love with this place too!

I mean, can you believe there’s a swing inside a living room area? How cool is that?

There’s not much place to sit, just a small loveseat, but, there’s the swing. Who would want to sit down when there’s a cool swing in the room? This idea is not only innovative and fun, but it’s also so aesthetic! In my opinion, it only helps with the light and air, a kind of boho atmosphere in the room.

Such beauty, isn’t it? The living room becomes even better and brighter when it’s sunny outside, the balcony doors are open, and a light breeze is playing with the curtains.

Right behind the loveseat is a full kitchen, so you won’t be hungry if you’re staying in this sweet and cozy retreat. Once again, the use of black hardware with wooden elements knocks me off my feet. It’s so rigid and industrial, but the contrast fits this breezy home so well!

The reason why this tiny house is called The Nook is because it’s got lots of nooks, like this black walnut one by the round window. Excuse me, isn’t that the prettiest window ever, or what?

Just picture yourself having breakfast here, while the birds are chirping, squirrels are hopping from one tree to another, and you just feel… tranquility!

Everything in The Nook is so aesthetically pleasing, even the bathroom! I’m not usually a bathroom person- you come in, do your business, and come out, so I don’t pay extra attention to them. However, I can’t ignore the combination of white and wood, a Scandinavian trend that came to stay.

This tiny house is a place where you bring your best friend to spend some quality time together, or your partner to connect on a deeper level. It only has one bedroom area and a floor bed, bringing you two closer together.

This bedroom nook is right next to a window, so the first signs of dawn will wake you up to enjoy it.

What I love the most about this part of the house is the mountain painting done as a headboard. Talking about falling asleep with a view!

The idea of using the room vertically, thus maximizing the space usage is applause-worthy! Climb the ladder next to the bed and you’ll find yourself in another hidden nook, the entertainment area.

Yep, another nook!

Naming this house any other name than The Nook would be just wrong.

I promise you, this is the last one IN the house.

This sweet, tiny area is a little tea spot with an ebonized oak table and cushions for the authentic Far East energy that seems to be flowing through The Nook.

Stepping outside, you find yourself on a balcony overlooking the forest. It may not be a nook, per se, but it definitely reminds me of one! Once again, the industrial touch with the iron railing against the wood panel works wonderfully.

If you thought we were done with nooks, you’re wrong.

Ta-daah! Another one!

This here is an outdoor bathhouse for one (maybe even two), hidden inside the wooden spiral shell. Well, to me, it’s a nook, and the coolest outdoor area for taking a relaxing bath. Don’t worry- no peering eyes here in the woods other than the birds.

If each nook tells its own story, then the story of The Nook in Swannanoa is one enchanted fairytale you gotta dive into.
