If I told you that the home is made of steel, wood and is on wheels, what would be your first thought? Campers? No, here we will explore the world of container homes.
I have one perfect example of what life looks like in one of many charming steel beauties. This one is located in Newport, Tennessee, owned by Marta Girve. Surrounded by other containers in the community, it stands out for its black color. That is why neighbors named it Death Star.
The container is 8×40, one-floors, but don’t let it fool you, it has everything you need.
Beauty Is In Rustic Pieces
Marta points out cheap living and making friends quickly as the biggest advantages of living in containers. Her highest electric bill was 38$. Really? That cheap?
“I travel a lot for work and I have lived in hotels for months and months and months and realize I don’t need much”, Marta told Tiny House, Giant Jurney. So, she made a decision ‘cuz of the nature of her work, realized that she doesn’t need a lot of space also ‘cuz she is single. And, I mean, she is right.
Open Space Wherever You Look
In this modern day and age where we want everything to be larger and bigger, this tiny house reminds us that we don’t need so much stuff. This house with its simplicity gives us more time to focus on life’s important things: family, travel and work.
The interior looks like all the rooms are in one long hallway. Cool, isn’t it?
Snuggly, But Everything Fits
Upon entering, the first thing we see is Marta’s home office, which is also a dining area. Two birds with one stone. On one side is the kitchen and on another is the living room. Imagine taking a glass of water without leaving a chair, while you’re working. Handy!
What’s On TV Tonight?
The deep-seated couch in the living room looks so cozy. Situated in the center of the room, facing a flat-screen TV on the wall, and a fireplace is under it, makes the central point in this home. This rug caught my eye. Such a unique thing.
These Christmas decorations in the living room remind me of two things: hot chocolate in my hand and “Home Alone” on the TV.
Rustic Feel Everywhere
The kitchen is placed on both sides of the walls and has a lot of storage space. Certainly, the most beautiful thing in the kitchen is this pearl white farm sink. That’s what I always wanted to have. The farm sink plus barn doors give this kitchen a rustic look.
Privacy Is A Major Deal
Right behind the kitchen is a tiny bathroom. It doesn’t seem very spacious or private and this is not a common design choice. On the other hand, a great solution for a container house.
The Lovely Feeling Of Freedom
This tiny heaven is made of a queen-sized bed. While it’s not the most conventional space, it has a certain cozy charm. There’s something so comforting about having a mini Christmas tree in your bedroom, all lit up and sparkling.
When you buy a proper house or a condo you are tied to a single place but with this house on wheels, every place on this earth is your home. That is the biggest feature and freedom that is provided by owning this house.
